Lechatelierite Trinitite
Comments: Fused silica sand (trinitite) generated by the first nuclear (fission) bomb. Although man-made and not a valid mineral, the specimen has historic value.
Location: Trinity Flats, White Sands, New Mexico. It came into existance at 5:29 a.m., July 16, 1945.
Scale: Specimen size 4.1 cm.
