Remarks	Silvery metal of the rare earth group. Slowly attacked by oxygen and water, dissolves in acid. Used as flux concentrator for high magnetic fields. Diagnostic tests: There are no simple diagnostic tests to identify holmium. X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy is commonly employed to identify and analyze members of the Rare-Earth group elements.
